Arginine Plus by Metagenics is a product designed to support a healthy cardiovascular system. As it’s name suggest, it includes 1.5 mg of high-quality L-arginine to provide the building blocks your body needs to increase nitric oxide (NO). NO helps to dilate blood vessels, decreases blood pressure, lowers total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol and fibrinogen and increases HDL cholesterol. It’s a powerful amino acid for the heart and vessels.

Arginine Plus also contains 665 mcg of folate in the form of calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate. This form is a version of folate that the body can readily utilize and is optimal for people suffering from diseases (kidney or thyroid disease, for example) or genetic defects (such as deficiency of MTHFR) that prevent the body from processing the standard folate found in food and most supplements. Without the ability to process folate, homocysteine levels rise and risk of cardiovascular events (heart attacks and strokes) increase. Also, other factors such as alcohol, drugs, coffee, age and menopause are correlated with elevated homocysteine levels and calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate is an ideal support option for people in those groups.
