A family owned and operated company in Gilsum, New Hampshire, Badger was started by Bill Whyte in 1995. Bill was a hardworking carpenter who worked even during the winter months, and because of the cold weather, had experienced painful cracked skin on his hands. To solve his problem, he formulated an amazing and effectively soothing balm. Naturally, he wanted to share his creation with the world, and that’s how Badger was founded. Together with his wife Katie Schwerin, and their two daughters Rebecca Hamilton and Emily Schwerin-Whyte, they worked together to run the company into the success story it is today. From that first hand balm product, Badger grew to over 100 products and over 80 employees. The brand develops all of these safe and effective products using only premium, natural plant extracts, high-quality and hard-to-find oils, beeswax, and minerals. Before coming to production, these organic ingredients undergo thorough investigation and analysis to ensure they exceed the brand’s standards for healthy agriculture, minimal carbon footprint, sustainable supply and health-giving properties. They source extra virgin olive oil from a single-family estate in southern Spain. The organic rose essential oil is steam distilled in Bulgaria from rose petals picked the very same day. Badger is a leading brand in manufacturing products that are rich in powerful antioxidants and vitamins to help achieve healthier people and a healthier planet. Proudly, Badger became a B Corporation in 2011 and in 2018 was once again recognized by B Corporation with spots on the annual Best for the World and Best for Environment lists. They are very well known for their Anti Bug Shake & Spray, Cocoa Butter Lip Balm Vanilla Bean and their SPF 40 Kids Clear Zinc Sunscreen Cream products, to name a few.
